Canada Well Represented Down Under at 2015 World Cup

Ottawa, Ontario | April 23, 2015

Kelly McKerihen and John Bjornson represented Canada in Warilla, Australia at the 2015 World Cup.  The indoor singles tournament was played at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club.

Bjornson had many close matches, but in the end finished with a 2-7 record and placed eighth in his section.  Competition was fierce, but Bjornson stuck to his game and had great wins over Macao and Singapore.  Bowls Canada Boulingrin is proud of how Bjornson represented Canada with true sportsmanship and relentlessness throughout the entire competition.

On the women’s side, McKerihen overcame a loss right out of the gate to then win five matches in a row.  McKerihen finished with a 5-2 record and placed second in her section.  She advanced to the knockout round but came up short against Julie Forrest of Scotland, who would eventually won silver.

Both Bjornson and McKerihen proudly represented Canada and gained new experience and learned a lot while competing against the best indoor bowlers in the world.  They will be able to build on this experience and success, which will surely build their careers forwards.
