Teams are tied up on Day 4 of the Canadian Championships

Victoria, B.C.| August 17, 2017

As round robin play is coming to an end, the standings are starting to show a glimpse of the action to take place for Saturday’s finals.

The Pituley brothers (Saskatchewan) continue to defend their men’s pairs title with a 6-1 lead over the Steffin brothers (Ontario-A), who currently sit in second at 5 wins, 2 losses. BC-A (Cary Manns and Kin On Lau) and Alberta- A (Derek Dillion and Greg Wilson) are tied for third with a 5-3 record. Most teams seem to be tied up on the triples side, Ontario-B (Wayne Wright, Jim Roth and Tom Roth) take an early lead of 6-2. Nova Scotia-A (Steve Odgen, Steve Bezanson and Mike Hadley) and Saskatchewan (Alex Scott, Grant Wilkie and Murray Pituley) are tied for second with a 5-3 record. Currently, Alberta-A, Ontario-B, Manitoba and BC-A are all tied for third place at 4-4. Lastly, Ontario-A (Gord Legacy, Martin Foxhall, Earle Friedman and David Llewellyn) take the lead with a 7-1 streak, surpassing yesterday’s leaders Alberta-A (Pat Bird, Lyall Adams, Francis Standen and Herman Cooper) who currently sit at 6-2. Ontario-B (David Houtby, Murray Wright, Barry Mills and Ian Macpherson) are tied with Québec (David-James Smith, Patrice Desranleau, Minder Uhba and Gilles Cayer) for third place with a record of 5-3.

On the women’s side, Nova Scotia-A (Lena Cameron and Patti Granville) are leading the pack at 6-1. Manitoba mother-daughter duo (Shirley Fitzpatrick-Wong and Clarice Ftizpatrick) tie Ontario-B (Kay Johns and Marilyn Lancaster) with a standing of 5-3. BC-B (Lynda Robbins and Patricia Levie) tie for third against Ontario-A (Cindy Higgins and Carol Finlayson), sitting at 4-3 going into Day 5. Ontario-B triples team of Laila Hassan, Chrystal Shephard and Helena Ho, tie things up for first place with BC-B (Jenny Siu, Rainbow Lung and Lisa Cheung) with a 7-1 record. Ontario- A (Sue Roth, Michelle Whitehead and Laurie Roth) sit in second with a 5-3 record. Alberta- A (Jan Robinson, Jennifer MacDonald and Pat Vos) close in on second, currently with a 4-3 record.

BC-B fours (Josephine Lee, Pricilla Westlake, Sarina Mak and Gigi Chan) keep a perfect record of 8-0, placing them in first. Tied for second are Nova Scotia-A (Tammy Forster-Veinot, Debby Foster, Lorraine Bezanson and Jackie Foster), BC-A (Mary Wright, Annie Mathie, Belle Chan and Anne Van Bastelaere) and Alberta B (Gayell Slater, Linda Kodnar, Gillian Marshall, and Kathryn MacGregor) all with a 5-2 record.


Streaming will begin at 9am PST with women’s fours SK VS ON-B. Tie breakers will occur if needed, further information about afternoon streaming to come.

The 2017 Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships are an annual outdoor championship that feature both men and women competing across three disciplines: pairs, triples and fours. They will be held at the Juan De Fuca Lawn Bowling Club in Victoria, British Columbia from August 14th to 19th, 2017.
