Play Continues at the 2017 Canadian Championships

Victoria, B.C.| August 17, 2017


Day three is in the books at the Juan de Fuca greens. Sixty teams from across the country have completed six of nine rounds at the Canadian Lawn Bowling Championships.


On the men’s side, Alberta-A (Pat Bird, Lyall Adams, Francis Standen and Herman Cooper) continue their dominant performance in the fours with a perfect record of 6-0. The triples were incredibly close at the midway point of the tournament, as all 10 teams were either 3-2 or 2-3 after 5 rounds of play. At the conclusion of the 6th round, there is a three way tie for first in the triples between Ontario-B (Wayne Wright, Jim Roth, Tom Roth), Nova Scotia-A (Steve Ogden, Steve Bezanson, Mike Hadley), and Saskatchewan (Alex Scott, Grant Wilkie, Murray Pituley), all of whom have records of 4-2. In the pairs, Ontario-A (Dave Steffen, Rob Steffen) and Saskatchewan (Jon Pituley, Michael Pituley) are tied at the top with records of 4-1-1.


Over on the women’s rinks, British Columbia-B team (Josephine Lee, Pricilla Westlake, Sarina Mak and Gigi Chan) sit in first in the fours with a perfect record of 6-0. In the triples, Ontario-B (Laila Hassan, Chrystal Shephard and Helena Ho) and British Columbia-B (Jenny Sui, Rainbow Lung and Lisa Cheung) are tied for first with records of 5-1. In the pairs, Nova Scotia (Lena Cameron, Patti Granville) sit in first with a record of 5-1.


Streaming will begin 9 am PST with a battle between Manitoba and Nova Scotia-A in the women’s pairs, followed by Saskatchewan versus British Columbia-A in men’s pairs starting at 1:30pm PST. http://sportscanada.tv/bowlscanada/
