Toronto (ON) Thirty leaders from across the country collaborated over the March 21-23 weekend to create a compelling and bold long-term vision for the growth and success of Bowls Canada Boulingrin.

Facilitated by Dina Bell-Laroche of the Sport Law and Strategy Group, the Bowls Canada National Planning

Summit focused on the identification of potential opportunities to address the trends of declining membership, limited resources, and a rapidly evolving national sport landscape.

The vision that emerged was created with input from over 500 key stakeholders through survey and consultations and will be shared with members over the coming months.  In the immediate future, a writing team will be struck to use this foundational work to produce a dynamic strategic plan to guide the national organization through to 2018.

Anna Mees, BCB’s executive director was thrilled with the energy and commitment shown by all participants. “As the Summit progressed, a passionate feeling of coast-to-coast teamwork and synergy emerged. It was clear to each of the national directors, provincial executive members, coaches, athletes, officials, recreational bowlers, and club presidents gathered in Toronto, that the way forward is to invest in and inspire a connected community across Canada.”

Anna’s thoughts were echoed by BCB’s president Ian Tyzzer. “I believe that we have worked together to enhance our collective ability to tackle some of the bigger issues affecting our long-term sustainability. I am very proud of the work we have achieved this weekend and am looking forward to supporting the organization and its partners as we collaborate to implement the eight objectives that were prioritized.”
